In addition to their traditional medical education at some of the nation’s finest schools and universities, these physicians have gone on to complete fellowships in some of the most complex orthopaedic sub-specialties, putting these critical skills to work for the patients in our care.
In addition, physician assistants play a important role at NebOrtho. They too, have undergone the specialized training and certifications that enable them to understand the conditions that can impact the musculoskeletal system. Together, they work as a team to pinpoint problems, develop surgical and nonsurgical means of addressing them and even work to prevent problems from developing.

Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Michael O’Neil specializes in hip and other joint surgery at NebOrtho. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and completed an internship at Bishop Clarkson Hospital in Omaha and residencies at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, as well as Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Greenville, S.C.

He earned his degree in medicine from the University of Iowa College of Medicine, after completing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Creighton University in just three years. Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, he received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, where he completed his orthopaedic surgery residency in Wichita and was selected as chief resident.
